To activate emergency eyewashes, swing the eyewash over the sink and push the activation paddle backwards and down. The water flow will stay on until manually turned off by pulling the paddle upright.

The water temperature is tempered, warmed enough so that extended rinsing can take place.

Rinse out chemical contamination immediately, as eye damage occurs very quickly. Recommended rinse time is 15 minutes.

It is likely that someone needing to use an eyewash will not be able to keep his/her eyes open to see. So that eyewashes can be used immediately, be sure that access to eyewashes is not blocked by lab supplies.
