Team Science Leadership Program

Specifically tailored to IGB mid-career faculty, the IGB Team Science Leadership Program is a new series of workshops that will offer leadership training, networking, and community-building, and will grant a certificate at the end of the year-long program.

Principled Academic Leadership

Designed specifically for early to mid-career faculty affiliated with the IGB, this partnership with the National Center for Principled Leadership & Research Ethics that offers a program focusing on practical, interactive sessions over the course of an academic year.

Professional and Leadership Development Advisory Group

The Professional and Leadership Development Advisory Group helps create a more inclusive, diverse, and welcoming environment within the IGB for all members of our community. The PLD Advisory Group comprises IGB community members spanning the breadth of IGB, including theme leaders, faculty, staff and postdoctoral researchers.

Inclusive Excellence Award

The Inclusive Excellence Award supports projects that showcase diverse ways of practicing science, provide ally training for researchers, create a culture of inclusion and wellness for IGB community members, and encourage participation from a broad range of perspectives and experiences. The award is open to all eligible members of the IGB community.

Lunchbox Series

The Lunchbox is an event series centered on food that consists of monthly seminars from Illinois faculty, staff, and community members that are paired with special meals prepared by chefs at Bevier Café. Through a universal appreciation for food, the program seeks to create an inclusive community that encompasses people from different cultural backgrounds.

Join a research theme

With faculty from over 30 departments on campus, the IGB is continually looking to involve new members to work in our multidisciplinary, thematic research themes. This includes assistant professors, who can scale their involvement to fit the needs of building their own lab, while still reaping the benefits of working at the IGB as outlined below.
