In open labs such as those at the IGB, emergency situations cannot be contained in small areas as they can be in multiple smaller labs. More lab personnel may also be affected by a chemical spill or other hazardous situation.

Please minimize quantities of hazardous materials such as flammable liquids and gases and strong acids and bases in the labs. Store larger containers of flammables and caustics in the cabinets provided for that purpose.
